2022 Bassmaster Classic bound!!!
It's been a busy 2021 and again, I apologize for not keeping up with everything on my website here! With all of the inconvenience crossing the border over the past year, Shelby and I ended up spending a good chunk of the year in the US and we made the most of our time down there in between tournaments.
It was a good season in the end. We won a tournament in February and despite a few tough events, we made the 2022 Bassmaster Classic, which was the goal at the start of the season. Going into the last two events out in New York I was outside the line for the Classic so there was some pressure to catch fish and make sure I got in there. With finished of 14th and 18th at Champlain and the St. Lawrence River, we got the job done.
Big congratulations to my pal and travel buddy Seth Feider on winning the 2021 Bassmaster Angler of the Year! It's the most prestigous title in our sport and Seth had an amazing season to win in dominant fashion. He really didn't have a bad day all season! Proud of you man!
I really enjoy fishing for spotted bass and we didn't have to many opportunities to fish for them this season. At Neely Henry Lake in Alabama in May I was able to catch a few during that event, which made me happy and they earned me a few bucks in that event! They are a beautiful bass, which we don't have up in Canada.
I'm back home now for the rest of the year and it's been really nice. I've been fishing on Lake of the Woods a bunch, fishing a few tournaments, guiding a few days here and there, just really enjoying the last bit of summer that we have left. Our weather this time of year is so perfect, I love it! Throughout the season my boat, motor and equipment all worked great, thankful for that! My boat is my office so it's important that everything works properly!
In June I got to fish my second Bassmaster Classic. It is the biggest event in our sport and its an amazing accomplishment in my World to get to fish in this tournament. The longtime tournament director of the Elite Series, Trip Weldon, came out of retirement to be the weighmaster one last time, so I was really excited to get a photo with him and Dave Mercer. We were in Texas so I had to rock the cowboy hat!
One of the biggest pieces of news over the past few months was the release of the new G. Loomis NRX+ fishing rods. These are some of the finest fishing rods you can buy, and yes they are expensive and not for everybody but if you want the best, the lightest and the most sensitive rod, you should check them out! Lake of the Woods Sports Headquarters has a full line-up of them...click the link to check them out.
The rest of the year you'll be able to find me around home, fishing a bunch! We have tournaments most weekends into October so I'm going to be fishing a bunch of those and keeping busy during the doing a few guide trips and getting out with my buddies. If you want to get out on the water, send me a message!
