3rd place at the Canadian Bass Championship

John Peterson from Northland Fishing Tackle and I took third place at the recent Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship at Rainy Lake.  It was my best finish in this tournament so we were pumped!  www.canadianbass.com

Facts of Fishing comes to Sunset Country

Last week was really fun, I got to spend a few days on the water with Dave Mercer from Facts of Fishing.

Unfortunately the weather was tough on us, but we caught some fish and had a good time.  I think I dressed warmer for four days last week than I did for the last four days of ice fishing!   The weather is back on track now and it looks like summer is finally here AND the fish are biting!

First WIN of the year

Dave Bennett and I won our first bass tournament of the year, May 23, on Falcon Lake in Manitoba.
We caught about 25 keeper bass, mostly on #8 Rapala X-Raps and 3 inch Northland Slurpies Grubs (White).

Dave caught the big bass of the tournament at 4.05.

A good way to start the season!

Sturgeon Bay Report

Dave Bennett and I just returned from Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin where we were fished in the Sturgeon Bay Open this past weekend on Lake Michigan.
Despite some tough weather last week, Dave and I both managed to catch our biggest smallmouths ever weighing 6.23 and 7.36 respectively.  (shown in the photo below)

Day one of the tournament was cancelled due to high winds so it was a one-day shootout.  We took ninth place with a 6 fish limit weighing 28.20 pounds.  Pretty good day of fishing!
